Geurige Vierkantjies (Tasty Squares)

This is a recipe that was sent to us from a friend of my mother's.

Heat the oven to 350ºF

1. Beat 1/2 lb butter and 1 cup sugar to a creamy texture.
2. Add 2 eggs and 1 t vanilla.
3. Add 3 cups flour and 3 t Baking Powder.
4. Mix to a stiff dough.
5. Divide into two equal parts.
6. Press one half down on a cookie sheet - 1/2 inch thick.
7. Cover in a thin layer of apricot jam.
8. Grate the other half of the dough over the jam to cover it.
9. Bake until starting to brown.
